DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST JOB DESCRIPTION

Data Management Specialists provide reliable, consistent support of application interfaces while working to develop, test, and operationalize workflow improvements utilizing data integration. The right candidate will work with internal clients in other departments as well as outside entities in order to identify workflow improvement opportunities, data sources, and data elements to assist with these opportunities, and implement them with the assistance of third-party developed software solutions.

DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Maintain a functional test environment including applications and interfaces
  • Upgrading, testing, and implementing software & hardware changes related to applications
  • Master data management tasks to remove duplicates, eliminate incorrect data, and ensure consistency and accuracy
  • Utilize change control measures to document and communicate changes to the software environment
  • Document necessary environment changes and project plans
  • Works with managers and teammates to develop accurate estimates of assigned tasks
  • Participates in training and mentoring of team members
  • Abide by company and industry regulations for transmitting and sharing protected health information
  • Other duties as assigned

DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST REQUIREMENTS
  • 4-year degree – preferably in Engineering, Computer Sciences, or Data Management emphasis or a minimum of 2 years of Data Integration or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of structured data and databases
  • Ability to understand and operate complex technical applications
  • Ability to work after hours at times to implement system changes during maintenance windows
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Self-motivated and customer service oriented
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal, written, and customer service (documentation, end user support, and vendor technical support)
  • Great attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational, decision-making, and time management skills; ability to track and perform multiple tasks
  • Ability to take ownership of and follow through on client issues until resolution is achieved

DATA MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
  • Knowledge of HL7 messaging and interfaces
  •   Knowledge and experience using an ETL tool
  •   Microsoft SQL experience
  •   Report writing experience
  •   Experience with healthcare data and medical terminology
